Palace Wedding Decor
This post brings together ideas for palace wedding decor: flowers, tables, stationery, cakes and colour palettes. They range from roses and hydrangeas in blue and white porcelain to a staircase dressed with apricot roses, invitations sealed with wax and a cake on a marble mantelpiece, with examples from palaces in Vienna, Lower Austria and Salzburg and a chateau in Provence.
Wedding Flowers
White roses and blue hydrangeas were arranged on a flower arch at the end of an aisle of white chairs, under the trees in the garden of the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, where Caroline and Andrew were married in August 2025. The flowers were designed by Hana Holdener, who also designed the florals for the other palaces on this page.

Autumn colours were chosen for the flowers at the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein and in the park at Laxenburg. Roses, anthuriums and hydrangeas in terracotta and rosé were arranged on the columns of a green and gold pavilion.

An arch of white flowers was designed for the ceremony in a gilded hall at the Belvedere, and peach and yellow roses were combined with white lilies on the tables. Red gerbera and carnations, callas and pale pink pompon dahlias were used for the arrangements at Schloss Hof, with gypsophila in between.

Bouquets were designed in the colours of each day: white blooms with small yellow orchids at the Belvedere, and orchids, roses and amaranth in terracotta and apricot for the park at Laxenburg.

Two tall columns of white roses and greenery were designed by Botanica Event for the end of an aisle at Chateau Martinay in Provence, with the fountain and the facade of the chateau behind them.

White pillar candles and apricot roses were arranged on the steps of the stone staircase in the Great Hall of Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, with pale yellow anthuriums and white hydrangeas at its foot.

Roses and hydrangeas can make up all of your flowers, or you can mix them with orchids, callas and dahlias.
Wedding Table Decor
An oval dinner table was designed beneath the chandelier of the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, with a toile tablecloth, apricot chairs and apricot chargers. The flowers, apricot with touches of blue, were arranged in blue and white porcelain vases: roses, callas and hydrangeas in some, orchids and chrysanthemums in others. A menu card with a single orchid was placed on the plates.

Tall candelabra were placed along the table between marble columns at the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, and small bowls with spoons were arranged among the flowers on toile fabric. For an outdoor dinner at Chateau Martinay, a runner of white flowers and greenery was combined with candles and cane-back chairs along one long table.

Flowers in red, orange and lilac were arranged as a runner down the whole length of a long table at Schloss Hof, on an old rose tablecloth in a white stucco hall under arched windows. Low round poufs in rosé were used instead of chairs, rosé taper candles were placed among the flowers, and cherries were scattered over the cloth. Menu cards with a painted floral border and a pink satin bow were placed on white scalloped plates, over old rose linen napkins and next to ribbed rosé wine glasses.

White linen, yellow flowers, candles and menu cards were chosen for a long table at the Belvedere, in a hall with statue niches and red marble pilasters.

The planner from A Very Beloved Wedding designed the dinner as a U-shaped table under the crystal chandelier of the Marble Hall at Schloss Leopoldskron, with green and white toile linen, coral velvet chairs and low arrangements of white hydrangea and orange flowers along its whole length.

For your own dinner you could choose one long table down the hall, or an oval one under the chandelier.
Wedding Stationery
Carissimo Letterpress designed invitations printed with a blue toile pattern and a monogram for the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, sealed with wax in terracotta and blue, and menu cards with a wax seal of their own. The cards were photographed together with a ring box, earrings, a dried rose and an orchid.

Invitations in a curved shape, with a painted floral border and butterfly details in gold foil, were tied with pink satin ribbon and placed in a coral envelope at Schloss Hof. Name cards for the bride and the groom were made in the same style.

Menu cards were made in the same style as the invitations: scalloped cards with a painted pink border and a satin bow at Schloss Hof, and cards with a painted border of yellow flowers and a cream ribbon at the Belvedere, where the invitations were finished with an envelope and a tassel.

Calligraphy with a butterfly motif was chosen for the invitations at Chateau Martinay, photographed on layered paper with a dip pen, antique frames and a ring box.

Years from now, when the two of you sit down with your own photographs, the invitation your guests received will be among them.
Wedding Cakes
A white tiered cake decorated with orchids and white blossoms was cut in a marble hall between statue niches at the Belvedere.

A cake decorated with orchids and hydrangeas, with florals in terracotta and green, was placed on the marble mantelpiece of the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, beneath a gilded mirror and in front of a dark blue drapery. It was cut in front of the mirror.

A pink cake with berries, a red cake with cherries and small cakes on columns were served at a dessert table outside, in front of the facade of Schloss Hof.

Apricots and grapes were arranged as a crown on a white tiered cake at Schloss Leopoldskron, placed on the table in front of the marble fireplace.
You can give your cake a place of its own on a mantelpiece, or have it served with smaller cakes at a dessert table outdoors.
Colour Palettes
Blue and white was the palette at the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein, with blue hydrangeas and white roses for the ceremony and toile fabric on the table. Blue was repeated in the toile tablecloth, the porcelain vases and the invitations at the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, and apricot and terracotta were added in the flowers, the chairs and the chargers. Gold was named as the second wedding colour there, next to the gilded mirror frames and the chandelier of the hall.

Rose and cherry red were chosen at Schloss Hof: old rose linen, rosé candles and glasses, red and lilac flowers and cherries on the tablecloth. White and peach were the colours at the Belvedere, with peach and yellow roses, white lilies and a white cake.

Blue and white was chosen again at Chateau Martinay, with porcelain plates and cream silk napkins among white flowers. Coral and orange on green and white toile were the palette at Schloss Leopoldskron, repeated from the plates and the gerbera on the tables to the velvet box for the rings.

A palette can be built around a single colour, like the blue of the Gartenpalais, or around two, like the blue and apricot of the Stadtpalais.
Common Questions
Which flowers are used most often for wedding decor?
Roses are still the most popular wedding flower, in white, peach, yellow, terracotta or apricot. Hydrangeas, orchids and callas are often combined with them. For something less expected, gerbera, carnations and pompon dahlias can be mixed with gypsophila, as they were at Schloss Hof.
How many colours does a wedding decor palette need?
One or two main colours are usual, with a third as an accent. Blue and white, blue and apricot with gold, rose and cherry red, white and peach, and coral on green toile are the palettes shown on this page. A palette can start from the linen, the flowers or the stationery and then be repeated across the table, the invitations and the cake.
What belongs to a wedding stationery suite?
A stationery suite usually includes invitations with envelopes, menu cards, a seating plan and name cards. Details can vary from wax seals in terracotta and blue to gold foil, satin ribbon or a tassel. The stationery for the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, Schloss Hof and the Belvedere was designed by Carissimo Letterpress.
