Wedding Venues in Europe

Wedding venues in Europe range from the palaces of Vienna and Schloss Leopoldskron outside Salzburg to Chateau Martinay, a private estate in Provence reserved exclusively for the couple during their stay. This article presents palace halls and gardens in Austria, the chateau's courtyard, terrace and cypress alley in France, and the Louvre and old town of Paris, with the flowers, tables and bridal styling chosen at each.

Wedding Venues in Austria

In Austria, the venues on this page are palaces and palace gardens in and around Vienna and Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg.

Vienna

The Vienna palace wedding venues overview collects the palaces in and around the city, from the Belvedere to Schlosspark Laxenburg and Schloss Hof, and several of them have a page of their own.

At the Garden Palace Liechtenstein, Caroline and Andrew were married in the garden under the trees, with white chairs on both sides of the aisle and white roses and blue hydrangeas at the ceremony. Their wedding was planned and designed by A Very Beloved Wedding, and the stationery was printed by Carissimo Letterpress. The seating plan, with their names and the date of the wedding, was decorated with flowers, and the dinner tables were designed with tall candelabra, with marble columns behind them.

At the Belvedere, an arch of flowers was designed for a ceremony in a gilded hall lined with mirrors, and a long dinner table with candles and flowers in a hall with statue niches. Portraits were taken outside on the garden path in front of the Upper Belvedere.

At the City Palace Liechtenstein, the celebration was held in a festival hall under a large gilded chandelier, and the bridal gown chosen for it was long-sleeved lace with a full tulle skirt. The ceremony for the same day took place in Schlosspark Laxenburg, at a green and gold garden pavilion whose columns were dressed with roses, anthurium and hydrangeas in terracotta and rose. The bouquet was designed from orchids, roses and amaranth in terracotta and apricot.

Schloss Hof, once the property of Prince Eugene, has a chapel, state rooms, a historic riding hall and a baroque garden with terraces. For a dinner there, one long table was designed along a hall with stucco walls, with a runner of red, orange and lilac flowers and cherries scattered over a dusky pink cloth, and a champagne tower of coupe glasses was built in a stucco niche of the same hall.

In Vienna you can marry outside in a palace garden or inside one of the gilded halls. If you are travelling to Austria from abroad, the destination wedding guide covers what a wedding in Vienna involves for a couple coming from another country.

Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg

Schloss Leopoldskron is a palace of 1740 on a lake outside Salzburg, with the Untersberg in view from its terrace. The venue offers the lake terrace and the Max Reinhardt Library as its two ceremony settings, and gala dinners are held in the Marble Hall under its painted stucco ceiling.

Marisa and Ryan chose the terrace. Their planner from A Very Beloved Wedding designed the ceremony without an arch: an arc of flowers in orange, white and apricot was set out on the gravel, open towards the lake, with the guests on orange velvet stools on both sides of it. The first look with the bride's father took place in the Green Salon, and dinner followed in the Marble Hall at a U-shaped table with toile linen in green and white and coral velvet chairs.

At Leopoldskron you can marry outside on the terrace or inside in the library.

Wedding Venues in France

In France, the venues on this page are a chateau estate in Provence and the city of Paris.

Chateau Martinay, Provence

Chateau Martinay is a private estate near Carpentras in Provence, with a main courtyard, a southern terrace, an alley of cypresses in the heart of its park and an orangerie. During a wedding stay the whole property is exclusive to the couple, and guests can stay in rooms in the main building and in the outbuildings.

At Chateau Martinay, the flat lays were styled with the invitation suite, a vintage ring box, the bridal shoes and a pair of opera glasses. Inside the chateau, the groom's portraits were taken at a billiard table and against gilded wallpaper, and the bride's by a fireplace and under a chandelier, with a bouquet of calla lilies and a string of pearls. For the ceremony, two tall columns of white flowers and greenery were designed by Botanica Event in front of the chateau, with the fountain and the façade behind them. The dinner table was designed outside in front of the same façade, with a runner of flowers, candles, and blue and white porcelain at every place, and the furniture for it came from Options in Aix-en-Provence. A green vintage Triumph convertible from Provence Classics was hired for the day.

At Chateau Martinay you can marry in front of the chateau or in the cypress alley, and have your closest guests stay on the estate.

Paris

In Paris, the setting was the city itself, with the Louvre and the streets of the old town in place of a single venue.

Portraits were taken at the glass pyramid of the Louvre, in its courtyard and along a colonnade, and in a vintage car on a street with the Eiffel Tower behind it. The bridal bouquet combined white flowers with feathers, the off-the-shoulder gown came from Luce Sposa and the tuxedo from Carlo Pignatelli, and the groom's portraits were taken on his own along the colonnade.
