Belvedere Palace

Belvedere Palace combines expansive formal gardens with historic indoor dining rooms. It is one of the most recognizable wedding venues in Vienna.

The primary strength of Belvedere lies in its outdoor ceremony setting. The garden’s linear axis allows structured seating with clear sightlines. The transition into the interior halls for dinner is direct and does not require transportation.

Belvedere is particularly suitable for couples who want:

• a formal outdoor ceremony
• visible Viennese architectural identity
• a seamless shift from garden to palace interior
• portraits without leaving the property

Garden Palace Liechtenstein

Garden Palace Liechtenstein offers one of the largest private palace gardens in Vienna combined with the Hercules Hall for seated dinners.

The structure here is defined by progression. Guests arrive through a courtyard, attend the ceremony outdoors and move inside for reception and dinner.

The Hercules Hall supports long banquet tables or round layouts without crowding. Ceiling height allows elaborate floral installations while maintaining spatial clarity.

This venue suits couples who want:

• expansive outdoor ceremony space
• a grand indoor dinner hall
• clearly defined guest flow
• separation between ceremony and dinner zones

City Palace Liechtenstein

City Palace Liechtenstein is located in the historic city center and focuses entirely on indoor architecture.

Unlike garden-based venues, the entire wedding unfolds within formal interior halls. This eliminates weather considerations and creates a controlled environment for ceremony, dinner and evening celebration.

• indoor ceremonies
• formal seated dinners
• winter weddings in Vienna
• centralized access for international guests

Schlosspark Laxenburg

Schlosspark Laxenburg lies just outside the city and is described on its own website as the largest historical landscape garden in Austria. Ceremonies are held outdoors at several places in the park, among them the Grünes Lusthaus, a baroque pavilion from the time of Empress Maria Theresia, the Concordia Tempel and the meadow beside the Franzensburg. Civil and symbolic ceremonies are both possible here, and the chapel in the Old Castle is the alternative in bad weather.

Flowers in terracotta and rose, with roses, anthuriums and hydrangeas, were arranged at the columns of a green and gold pavilion in the park, and the bouquet was made of orchids, roses and amaranth in the same colours. The portraits were taken on the woodland paths of the park in autumn.

At Laxenburg you can marry in the open air and still have a chapel in reserve for the day itself. The ceremony places in the park have their own page, Wedding Ceremony in Schlosspark Laxenburg.

Schloss Hof

Weddings at Schloss Hof, once the property of Prince Eugene, take place in its chapel, in its state rooms, in the historic riding hall and on the garden terraces. Civil ceremonies also take place in the baroque garden, and the Meierhof of the estate has orangeries and the Prinz-Eugen-Saal.

For a dinner at Schloss Hof, one long table was designed in a hall with stucco walls and a marble fireplace. The table was designed around a runner of red, orange and lilac flowers with gerberas, callas and pompon dahlias, with cherries scattered over a dusky pink cloth and menu cards tied with pink satin ribbon. A champagne tower of coupe glasses was built in a stucco niche, and the cake and small tarts were arranged on pedestals in front of the palace facade.

Hotel Wedding Venues in Vienna

The hotels in this section all lie in the first district. Hotel Imperial and The Ritz-Carlton were both built as palaces, and the Park Hyatt is housed in a former bank headquarters. Each of them has its own rooms for a ceremony, a dinner or both.

Hotel Imperial

Hotel Imperial stands on the Kärntner Ring. Duke Philipp of Württemberg had it built as a palace for his wife, Archduchess Marie Therese, and it opened as a hotel for the World Exhibition. For weddings the hotel has the Festive Hall, the Marble Hall with its marble columns and the Salon Imperial, and a private ceremony room where a registrar of the City of Vienna conducts civil ceremonies.

For getting ready at the Imperial, a dressing table with an oval mirror by a tall window under a crystal chandelier was chosen, and the bridal portraits were taken on a canopy bed beneath a blue and gold baldachin with a coat of arms. For the groom, a room with a gilt-framed painting was chosen.

You can get ready at the Imperial and hold the ceremony and the dinner somewhere else entirely.

Hotel Sacher

Hotel Sacher lies directly opposite the Vienna State Opera. Civil ceremonies are held in the Marble Hall, which is also used for champagne receptions, and smaller weddings and dinners with close family take place in the private salons and suites. Very small civil ceremonies are possible in selected terrace suites above the rooftops of the first district, and rooms and suites are available for the couple and their guests.

Palais Coburg

Palais Coburg stands on the Coburgbastei, on part of the former city walls of Vienna, and is run as a hotel of suites. At Palais Coburg the ceremony can take place in the garden, dinner in the historic state rooms and the celebration in the casemates, the Lange Kasemate and the Hohe Kasemate. Further rooms for a wedding are the Johann Strauß Saal, the Green Salon, the Orangery and the Veranda.

The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna

The Ritz-Carlton is housed in historic palaces on the Ring, beside the Stadtpark. Its largest room for a wedding dinner is the Crystal Ballroom, and the Atmosphere Rooftop Bar on the roof is booked for events with a view over the city. Smaller receptions are held in the Dstrikt Steakhouse or in the Presidential Suite.

A wedding at the Sacher, the Coburg or the Ritz-Carlton can take place in one building, from the ceremony to the night in your own suite.

Park Hyatt Vienna

The Park Hyatt stands on Am Hof in the first district, in a building of around a hundred years that was once the headquarters of the Länderbank. Its ballroom, the Grand Salon, is the room where the bank's directors once held their negotiations, with a coffered ceiling with golden ornaments, tall windows and a gobelin made in 1954 by the Viennese Gobelinmanufaktur. The hotel lists it for up to 126 wedding guests banquet style, with a prefunction area of 100 square metres for the reception, and smaller boardrooms, two of them with a balcony over Am Hof, for smaller dinners.

At the Park Hyatt you can hold the reception in the prefunction area and the dinner in the former bank's negotiating room.

Common Questions

At which wedding venues in Vienna is a civil ceremony possible on site?

Hotel Imperial has a private ceremony room in which a registrar of the City of Vienna conducts the civil ceremony. Civil ceremonies at Hotel Sacher take place in the Marble Hall and, for about ten guests, in selected terrace suites. In Schlosspark Laxenburg civil and symbolic ceremonies take place outdoors in the park. Civil ceremonies at Schloss Hof are possible for up to 150 guests, in the baroque garden or in the rooms of the palace.

How many guests can the larger wedding venues in Vienna seat?

The Crystal Ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton seats 200 wedding guests banquet style. The Grand Salon of the Park Hyatt is listed for up to 126 guests banquet style and 220 at cocktail tables. The Festive Hall at Hotel Imperial seats up to 110 guests. Hotel Sacher states that capacity depends on the room, the seating plan and the style of celebration, and Palais Coburg does not list capacities on its wedding page.

Which Vienna wedding venues have a ceremony outdoors?

Schlosspark Laxenburg offers four outdoor ceremony places: the Grünes Lusthaus, the Concordia Tempel, the meadow beside the Franzensburg and the ruin Haus der Laune. Open flames, including candles, are not allowed there, and the chapel in the Old Castle seats up to 70 people in bad weather. Ceremonies at Palais Coburg take place in the garden, and at Schloss Hof in the baroque garden and on the garden terraces.
